Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that he will follow a middle path in order to ensure victory of the party

Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that he will follow a middle path in order to ensure victory of the party[ Wednesday, 29 June 2011, 01:37.45 PM GMT +05:30 ]UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that he will follow a middle path in order to ensure victory of the party and will not side with either Ranil Wickremasinghe’s faction or Sajith Premadasa’s.

Participating in a media briefing held in Colombo today(29) Jayasekara stated that all internal conflicts within the party have now been resolved and disputes regarding party positions too have been amicably settled.

He asserted that it is not the UNP but rather the government which is facing many internal disputes and thus creating further crisis situations within the country.

Jayasekara said that the public should be made aware of the crisis situations in the country and that a people’s power should be built opposing the government.

While adding that it is only the UNP that is capable of implementing such a course of action Jayasekara stressed on the importance of unity within the party and suggested that suspended members of the working committee such as Rosy, Buddhika and Imthiyas Bakir should be re absorbed in to the working committee. He further stated that he has also appealed to party leader Ranil Wickramasinghe in this regard.

Furthermore Jayasekara also added that the case put forward by UNP MP Sajith Premadasa challenging the appointment of Ravi Karunanyaka as National Organizer should also be withdrawn.

Jayasekara reminisced that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had also carried out protest marches and rallies while the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was facing similar internal disputes and that hence it should also serve as a lesson for the United National Party.
