Petition against pensions for those living abroad

Apetition was presented at the Appeals Court against granting pensions to those livingabroad without dual citizenship. The petition was filed by the leader of theJanasetha Front, Battaramulle Seelaratna Himi.

 

Amongthe respondents was the Director of the Department of Pensions while thepetitioner Seelaratna Himi stated that there are more than 12,000 peoplecollecting pensions and living abroad. The petition states that over Rs.3.5billion is spent annually on paying these pensions.
