JVP states to compensate the damage caused to vehicles, due to the sale of low quality petrol[ Saturday, 02 July 2011, 05:07.37 PM GMT +05:30 ]JVP Party had made a request to compensate the damage caused to the vehicles due to the sale of low quality petrol. Three wheelers, cars and motor cycles and fuel filling stations are affected due to the usage of low quality petrol was mentioned by JVP Parliament member Anurakumara Tissanayake.The sectors which were affected should be compensated by the government was a request made.He alleged by creating a fuel shortage, fuel was imported on urgency. He insisted more attention should be focused whether Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation’s procedures were followed when petrol is purchased. <

Ranjan Ramanayake states government did not show anxiety to save Rizana
Ranjan Ramanayake states government did not show anxiety to save Rizana[ Wednesday, 29 June 2011, 01:35.29 PM GMT +05:30 ]United National Party Parliament Member and Actor Ranjan Ramanayake had mentioned that government did not show much anxiety to save Rizana Nafeek who was given death sentence in Saudi Arabia. Government did not have the back bone to directly involved in this issue was alleged by him.Due to the inefficiency of Government, Rizana’s problem was decided to take as an international issue was mentioned by him. While he attended the protest in the aim of gathering support to release Rizana he made this statement. Meanwhile Minister Dilan Perara for Foreign Employment and Welfare had mentioned, in many ways attempts are made to release Rizana. <

United States Secretary of State Hilary Clinton placed Sri Lanka among Tier 2 countries
The report noted that the Sri Lankan government convicted three traffickers, in the first case under its anti-trafficking legislation, and rejuvenated its inter-agency task force.
