Government has spent Rs.8585 mil​lion to obtain approval to organize Common Wealth Games[ Thursday, 30 June 2011, 01:31.41 PM GMT +05:30 ]Sri-Lankan government has spent Rs.8585 million to obtain approval to organize Common Wealth Games in Hambantota Sri-Lanka.

According to the sources, the government has taken various steps to hold 2018 Common Wealth Games in Sri-Lanka and sources also said Rs.264 million had been paid to the British company to carry out advertisements this regard.

US$46.2 million had been spent for printing the books which explain the government’s plans regarding the organization of the event.

However UNP MP Harsha De Silva said total expenditure of the organization of the Common Wealth Games will be Rs.440 billion.
