Family members sentenced to death June 28, 2011  01:28 pm

Two members of the same family, accused of manslaughter, were given the death sentence by the Badulla High court today (June 28).


The murder took place in the Madugasthalawa area in Passara in 1998 and was the result of a land dispute between the defendants and the victim, it was revealed during court proceedings.


The murder had reportedly occurred the day before the land dispute case was scheduled to be taken up at the Passara Court.


High Court Judge Piyaseeli Wickramasinghe exonerated the third defendant of the case today.
