Army carries out special investigat?ion to arrest the LTTE supporter[ Thursday, 07 July 2011, 04:37.39 AM GMT +05:30 ]Criminal Investigation Department of Sri-Lankan Army was able to collect much information about the LTTE net work and migrants Tamils.

According to the sources all these information’s were collected from the laptop of former LTTE political wing leader Tamil Chelvan.

Sources further said this laptop was belong to a resident in Nelson place Wellawatte and was working in a leading computer company in Colombo. Sources also said he helped the LTTE to purchase many technical equipments during the peace time in Sri-Lanka.

However CID officers are carrying out investigations to arrest this suspect but however suspect was escaped from the island.

Special program to protect Lankan water

Special program to protect Lankan water[ Monday, 04 July 2011, 02:04.46 PM GMT +05:30 ]A special security program has been organized to stop the illegal fishing in the Lankan water.

This program will help to protect the surroundings of the Lankan Sea.

The Director of the Lankan Cost Guar Department Admiral Daya Dharmapriya said the first step of this program begins in the KKS sea side.

He also said through this programme they hope to stop the illegal fishing of Indian fishermen in the Lankan water.

The Director further said this program will carry out by the Costal Department together wit the Sri-Lankan Navy.

77 absconding suspects arrested in special operation

Bookmark and Share In a special search operation conducted within the Nugegoda Police limits, 77 absconding suspects against whom arrest warrants had been issued were taken into custody.


The sudden raids were carried out by Nugegoda Division intelligence officers yesterday (July 02) night covering an area of 13 police stations, and according to information uncovered during a long period.


The apprehended suspects include many who had been absconding for several years, police revealed.


The suspects will be handed over to relevant police stations and subsequently produced at court, an intelligence officer of the Nugegoda Police Division told Ada Derana.

Bookmark and Share Every possible step will be taken in a diplomatic manner to free Rizana Nafeek, the Lankan housemaid has been sentenced to death by a high court in Saudi Arabia, Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem stated.


He stated at a press conference today (July 02) that, according to the laws of that country the Saudi king does not have the authority to even grant the request made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently.


Rizana could only be pardoned by the parents of the victimized child, he added.


Therefore a request has been made to send a special delegation to Saudi Arabia to hold discussions with the infant�s parents and to seek clemency for the Lankan housemaid, the Minister revealed.

Defence Secretary pays his special attention to Gajaba regime[ Saturday, 02 July 2011, 04:42.18 AM GMT +05:30 ]Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa pays his special attention to the officers of the Gajaba regime specially when granting the promotions to the Army officers.

According to the sources this is the regime where Gotabaya Rajapaksa served has the Army officer.

Sources also said Defence Secretary always work according to his own wish when naming the Army officers as the ambassadors to the foreign countries.

Sources further said officers of the Gajaba regime will receive more opportunities to get scholarships where they will be able to continue their higher studies in foreign universities.

Due to this tension situation as raised among the army personals sources said.

Special Traffic plan on July 2

A Special Traffic plan will be tried out on July 2 on Galle Road and Duplication Road between Dickman�s Road and Bambalapitiya junction. The plan will be tried out from 7 am to 10 am and 3 pm to 6pm, Police sources confirmed.

Special police raid in Puttalam

Special police raid in Puttalam[ Thursday, 30 June 2011, 01:37.29 PM GMT +05:30 ]The Puttalam police carried out a special raid in the district this morning.

During the raid thirty three suspects were arrested for engaging in the several offences in the area.

According to the police all these suspects were arrested following a sudden raid carried out today in several areas which fall under the Puttalam police division.

These raids were carried out in Kalpitiya, Mundalama, Saliyawewa, Nawagathegama, Karuwalagaswewa, Anamaduwa and Wanataviluwa.

Meanwhile, separately the police also raided a kassipu den in Puttalam and seized several items used to produce liquor illegally.

MinistrySecretary Hemasiri Fernando stated that the mail will be distributed within thenext two days by a special team working 24 hours.

 

Itwas reported that over 80,000 mails had piled up at the postal headquartersalone after the strike which in turn signalled the special distributionprogramme.

 

Despitethe protest the Lanka Postal Services Union has stated that authorities are yetto take measures to meet their demands.
