No limit to idiocy of the govt. Bahu July 4, 2011  11:14 am

Bookmark and Share General Secretary of the NSSP says that there are no limits or bounds to the present government when it comes to idiocy. Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratne was commenting on remarks made by Sri Lankas ruling party leadership.

United Peoples Front Alliance (UPFA) Secretary General Susil Premjayantha has said that the government would place its proposals for resolving the North-East problem before a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC), he claimed.

The major Tamil parliamentary party Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has already announced that it will boycott such a committee.

The TNA made clear that it arrived at the decision following several rounds of futile talks with the government. Dr Vickramabahu of the NSSP (New Same Society Party) points out.

He claimed that TNA Jaffna District parliamentarian and party spokesman Suresh Premachandran told media that the proposed PSC would not bring any tangible result and would be only a time consuming and useless exercise.

VIDEO: Govt. selling degree, 5% local students lose rights June 28, 2011  03:09 pm

Bookmark and Share The government has taken the initial step of selling degrees for money by quantitatively curtailing the number of students able to enter into the national university system, the United National Party accuses.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva had stated at parliament that around 1000 foreign student will be afforded the chance to enter the countrys universities from next year for a fee, UNP MP Tissa Attanayake mentioned.

Even though out of the 150,000 or so students sitting for A/L exams each year 50,000-55,000 are qualified to receive higher education only around 22,000-25,000 of them are provided with the opportunity to enter Sri Lankas universities, he pointed out.

Hence providing 1000 foreign students with university education in the country means that 5% of eligible Sri Lankan students will lose their right to that education.

Govt. disowned by international masters

(Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratne)  Sinhala heroes are on the run. The Goliath who protected them from the international enemies has turned against them. Delhi leaders, who gave orders to annihilate the Tamil insurrection and to bring the head of Prabhakaran to their feet, now want to pacify the Tamil bourgeoisie. The internationalization of the Tamil national issue has created a pressure unexpected. Tamil national problem was taken over by the international left organization and effected social democracy everywhere. Left in Lanka [...]

Govt. rejects our right to know

Weeks ago, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkoddy was in the chair at a party leaders’ meeting that discussed Parliamentary business in the days ahead. A heated debate ensued when Karu Jayasuriya, co-deputy leader of the main opposition United National Party (UNP), announced he would move a Private Member’s Bill on Freedom of Information. Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Dinesh Gunawardena strongly objected. They said in one voice that the government would not allow the Bill to become law ‘under any circumstances’.

Jayasuriya [...]
