M.M.C. Ferdinando was appointed the acting Chairman and Director General of the Board of Investments (BOI) in addition to his post as Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy.

Unidentifi​ed gunman opened a fire to the vhicle of Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman[ Friday, 01 July 2011, 03:30.34 PM GMT +05:30 ]The vehicle of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sampath Chandrapusha had come under gunfire during the wee hours.

Though the shooting damaged the vehicle no injuries were reported said the police.

According o the Beliatha police two unidentified gunman who arrive on a motorbike have opened a fire at the vehicle in Witharandeniya.

However Beliatha police are carrying out further investigations this regard.

Upali Darmadasa to be appointed as the new Chairman of theSri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee, confidential sources told Ada Derana ashort while ago. The new Interim Committee will be appointed tomorrow.

 

On June 22, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage toldAda Derana that he was �positively considering a change of administration andan election of office bearers at Sri Lanka Cricket after the current tour ofEngland�. He added that after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 most of the SriLanka Cricket Interim Committee members have shown interest to step down.
