26 schools in Kinniya had been closed[ Wednesday, 29 June 2011, 08:14.30 AM GMT +05:30 ]Schools in the Kinniya education zone were closed today following a protest by teachers over an incident which took place last evening.

The teachers were protesting an attack on the Kinniya zonal education officer, allegedly attacked by a provincial councilor of the area.

The teachers are demanding the police to arrest  the suspects in connection with this attack and to also they request the police to implement strick law regarding this issue.

However the police said that they have already arrested three suspects who were involved in the attack and they will be produced beforthe courts today.

Due to this protest  26 schools in the Kinniya education zone were closed today.

26 schoolsin the Kinniya education zone were closed today following a protest by teachersover an incident which took place last evening. The teachers were protesting anattack on the Kinniya zonal education director Y.L.M. Cassim, allegedly by anunidentified gang. Two persons have been arrested by the Kinniya Police lastnight.

 

 

Theteachers are demanding that the police arrest all the suspects involved in the incident.

Kinniya Zonal Education Director attacked

Kinniya Zonal Education Director attacked[ Tuesday, 28 June 2011, 04:59.07 PM GMT +05:30 ]The Kinniya Zonal Educational Director U.L.M.Kazim was attacked this evening and admitted to the Kinniya Base Hospital.

According to the sources, this attack was carried out by the Javathulla Treasurer of the Kinniya Divisional Secretary.

Sources further said this attack was carried out due to a personal reason.
